I have been a practicing Rogerian person-centred counsellor since 2010 and for the last 18 months I have been working with LJ to provide a service which specialises, though not exclusively, in working with people who identify as LGBT, an area of work in which I have 20 years worth of various experience as a volunteer, including being a Buddy in the early 90s and helping to run a peer support group for local LGBT youth until very recently.
As a person-centred practitioner I believe that each one of us is capable, given the right environment, of finding the way to our own truth and unique identity, of growth and self-awareness. I also believe that in a society which is not open generally to encouraging individuality, this approach to therapy can provide a way to begin to be who we truly are in a self-accepting way.
It is not my way, to tell you how to heal, but to help you find your own way!
You are the only person that truly knows what it’s like to be you!
