About Us

We began in 2013 as an umbrella service for Coventry and Warwickshire Friend and in 2015 expanded to become a separately recognised charity. Friend have been unfailingly supportive of the counselling service and we remain thankful to them as our service expands into a separate organisation. We are a small not-for-profit organisation who provide low-cost counselling to people local to the Coventry and Warwickshire area. Based in the city centre we are easy to get to by public transport, with parking nearby.

Timeout is ‘run’ by Chris, with support from LJ and Janey who are both trustees and counsellors, and we also have another counsellor Jens on the trustee board. Aside from this we have Caroline, our treasurer and Jess, another trustee. Our counsellors are Emily, David and Beth. All of our counsellors are either fully qualified or are working towards an accredited qualification, and all of us have had specific training in gender and sexual diversity, meaning that whether you’re LGBT (including non-binary), in an unusual relationship style, kink-oriented, asexual, intersex or a sex worker, you will not find your identity marginalised by our counsellors and will be met with a degree of understanding and experience around these topics. Our counsellors all understand that your sexuality, gender, or work-life are not necessarily the reasons that you want to come to counselling. We just think it helps if we have some knowledge and understanding, so that you don’t have to do the work in educating your counsellor before you can get to the reasons you came to us.

Our counsellors and trainees receive supervision* and are registered with a professional body. We all volunteer our time and rely on donations and grants to continue to offer counselling.
